☆CHAPTER 1: The Book of Memories☆
"I hate you!" she screamed and slammed the door in anger. Behind the door, she sat down and started sobbing. This wasn't the first time this has happened. Jo, or short for Joanna, leaned her head against the door. She sat there with her eyes closed, while trying to calm herself down. From the outside, she could her dad's muffled voice screaming, "Pack everything up by next week! We're leaving on Friday." Jo felt her whole world collapse. Her lifelong passion, to be a writer, wasn't going to come true. Not when she's forced to study medicene. For most, being a doctor or a nurse, would be a dream come true. But for her, its her worst nightmare. She didn't even know how she got accepted to a medical college; not like she applied for any. On second thought, it could've been her dad. He had never listened to her, or even considered her opinions. Jo slowly picked herself up from the floor, wiped her tears away and walked over to her desk. She sat down and opened a pink book with the label "Jo's Book of Memories". She gently caressed the book cover and stiffled a tear. It was written in her mom's cursive handwriting. She opened the book and smiled. Inside, it was filled with pictures of her younger self along with her family. Everyone just looked so...happy. Even her dad. She flipped a few pages to reveal a page of her mom and sister, wrapping a gift in Jo's favourite colour, green. Jo just stared at the picture for a few minutes before pulling out another book. It was her diary. She started writing. No one knew what Jo would write in her diary, everyone just assumed she would curse her fate, curse her dad or curse her life. It had been 9 years since her mom left her. Today was her death anniversary. Usually, she would have her sister beside her to console her or make her feel better. Unfortunately, her sister had run away from home several months ago. It turns out Jo's sister, Zee, had fallen in love with a man her dad didn't approve of. So, Zee eloped with that man. The night before Zee left, she had kissed her sister's forehead, and told her she was leaving. Zee said she would come back for Jo after she was settled down, and bring Jo away to someplace safe. Till this day, Jo hasn't heard from Zee yet. Jo just wished her sister had found the happiness she was still in search for. Jo closed her book and walked towards her bed. She pulled a huge suitcase from under her bed and sighed. She took her headphones, put on some music and got to work. Might as well start packing sooner.
