In the shop, the next day.The painting is now on the wall behind the counter. Miss Martha is putting some bread and some cakes into a man's bag. He gives her some money, then goes out of the shop. Mr Blumberger comes into the shop. He clothes are poor but tidy.

"Good morning.Two loaves of bread,please." said him to Miss Martha.
"Good morning." Martha smiling at him. She put two loaves bread into paper bags. While she is doing this, Blumberger is looking at the picture on the wall.

"That is a fine picture. " said Blumberger.
"Is it? I do love.... paintings.Is this a good picture,do you think? " Martha ask Blumberger.
"The colour's good but the lines are not right. Good morning. " Blumberger takes the bread and leaves the shop. As he leaves, Mrs Annie enters with a friend.

" Is that him?" Mrs Annie ask while excited.
"Yes! " said Martha.
"That's the man! You know, I was telling you about him." tell Mrs Annie to her friend.
" Did he see the painting, Martha? "Then she ask Martha about the painting.
"Yes! Hen knew at once that it was a good painting.Oh,what kind eyes he's got! " said Miss Martha.

"And he only eats stale bread? " ask Mrs Annie friend.
"Yes. He must be very poor. And he looks so thin. Oh, I do want to help him. " said Martha cause sympathy.
"You want to marry him! " Mrs Annie laughing.
"Where does he live?" ask Mrs Annie friend again.
" I don't know. Some poor room somewhere.But if we marry... " said Martha while think about her and that man.
"He come and live here, with you, over the shop! Stop dreaming, Martha." said Mrs Annie.In order Miss Martha not marry with the poor man.

"What's wrong with dreaming? Sometimes dreams come true. " said Mrs Annie friend to support Martha.
"That's right! They do! " said Martha confident.
