Girl in the Door

Fanfiction Series 15943

"Be good in school, Mihyun." My brother, Jaehyun, advised. I nodded while staring at the clock. 7:15 AM. We needed to be at school at exactly 7:30 sharp.

To be honest, I'm afraid. Of whom? The students. Just the thought of my fellow school mates makes me cringe.

I sighed as I grabbed a bread. I spread jam over it before eating it all up. The normal breakfast set up could have been peanut butter, but there was one problem- I'm allergic to nuts. I think my mom has it too, and it's a trait of hers that I inherited. I can't stand nuts, to be honest. Just smelling them would make me itch, and tasting them would bring me to the hospital. Yes, my allergy is that severe.

"Mihyun, I'm already finished. Hurry up, it's already 7:20." Jaehyun said. "I'm done," I said, the moment he finished his statement.

I love having breakfast with my brother, don't get me wrong. But this is plain. Life is plain.

We went to school. I hopped out of the car before walking into the building. The school was prestigious. This place was full of rich kids.

I went to the principal's office. The moment I stepped in, I saw a teacher. Manners came to me, so I bowed. The teacher immediately comes to my aid, telling me that she will guide me to the classroom where my class is going to be held. I nodded before we proceeded on getting out of the office.

"I guess you're one of the new students here." Is it not obvious? I could only sigh at her attempt of an ice breaker, but I still nodded.

"Why did you suddenly moved into our school? Doesn't your previous school hold a reputation of being prestigious? Is your dad the CEO of the flu company?" Okay, this woman is asking too many questions. I find her annoying. She's too nosy. Instead of answering her questions like the manner full and good girl that I am, I just remained silent. Maybe she'll get the hint.

We finally reached the classroom. The teacher with me knocked on the door before opening it. "Mrs Kim, you have a new student from Singapore." The teacher said before looking at me, patting my shoulder and walking away. I rolled my eyes. I fixed my hair before going in the classroom.

"Oh- it's you! Come in and introduce yourself to class." I immediately went in the classroom, slightly alarmed at the teacher's excitement. "Introduce yourself to class, please." The teacher said the moment I was in front.

"Annyeonghaseyo, my name is Kim Mihyun. Please take good care of me." I said, bowing 90°. I gulped the moment I saw the looks of my new classmates. Based on their expressions, I could tell that they already do NOT like me.

"Okay, Mihyun." The teacher finally said. "It's a pleasure to have you in our class. Please sit next to Mi Ah." She said before asking the said girl to raise her hand so I can see her.

The moment I saw her, I could tell that she is a person of a mixed race, like me.

"Hi, Mihyun! I hope we can be good friends." She said with a smile. That was pretty shock because I find myself unapproachable when it comes to friends. I nodded before taking a sit next to her.

The bell rang, signifying the end of class. It's lunch time. Is Mi Ah going to eat with me for lunch? Is she going to invite me to sit with her? Speaking of which... I looked at my side and saw that the seat is empty. Where did she go?

I went outside the classroom, and the moment I stepped out of class- I immediately regretted it. Great chatters went from one student to another. "Something explicit was going to happen in the rooftop," I heard a girl said to her friends. I had a bad feeling when I caught those nine words. I immediately rushed to the said place when my mind developed a bad thought.

"Knock it off, Eunha! She's bleeding!" I heard a girl shriek.

My eyes finally adjusted and in view, I saw Mi Ah. She was kneeling on the floor, being helped by two girls while the girl who I assumed is named Eunha, is slapping her. A wave of pity and anger suddenly washed through me. She was a victim of bullying. Just like me...

My thoughts went fast as a roller coaster as I recalled those horrible memories of me being bullied. Back when I was 13, I didn't give a damn. I didn't care. Because even if I fought it, the same thing will happen. It's a lose to lose situation.

I continued watching Mi Ah, me hidden behind the wall. My mind was still thinking if I should get involved or not. Getting involved can make me a victim again, and the purpose of moving to another school was to start a new, not have the same role over again. But then again... I know better. I know exactly how she feels right now. I watched her as she trembled. Right there, I knew she was scared. Just like how I felt back then.

That's when my decision became firm. Yes, I'm going to get involved.

"Knock it off, damn it!" Yes, apparently, that's how you get involved. I screamed those good choices of words as I went near them. The group of girls looked at me dumbfoundedly. The one called Eunha went near me, her hands on her hips.

"Oh, look Mi Ah! Someone saved you! You do have a friend! And it happened to be the new girl!" She cooed. "Ah- Do something, I'm scared!" She sarcastically said as she fakely whined. The other two girls cackled at her statement.

"Stop it right now before I call the teacher." I threatened her. These girls are acting like immatures.

"Wow, you really are new here." She continued to say. I gritted my teeth. "You don't know what you're getting yourself into a new girl. Do you want to be a hero? Well, I hope you realise consequences of your actions. You can replace Mi Ah, you know." Yep, I'm dealing with immature people.
