Chapter 3

“Hello?” a man answered a call from his phone. He was inside a car, driving but when he answered the phone call, he used the Bluetooth earpiece.

The man looked young, around in his mid-20s. He had short black hair and a serious face. He wore a white office shirt with black slack pants. His black coat was on the passenger’s seat.

[Hello, morning~] a sweet female voice came from the other end of the call.

When the man heard the voice, he smiled slightly. To other people who did not know him, he looked like he was forcing his smile but for those that knew him, it was a surprising scene.

The man was Mohd Azlan bin Amir. He was currently on his way to work. He met with a similar situation to Maisarah as he was stuck in traffic. He was getting bored inside the car but then, he got a call from the woman he loves.

“Why are you calling?” Azlan asked.

[Can’t I call you? Or are you with another woman now? So, you are scared of my call?] the woman spoke teasingly.

“What kind of woman can I get in the middle of a traffic jam?” he replied calmly.

[Hahaha. I am bored, that’s why I am calling. I just need to talk to someone right now but since you are driving, I am not going to disturb you]

“It’s fine. We can talk. The car is not moving anyway. Even if it is moving, it is as slow as a snail,” Azlan replied.

“Are you shooting something right now?” Azlan asked.

[Yeah. I came here early because I wanted to evade the traffic but the others ended up late because they are the ones stuck there now. I don’t even know when the shooting will start] the woman’s voice sounded tired.

“Then, you should take this time to rest,” Azlan replied.

[Talking to you is a rest too] she replied sweetly.

The duo continued their conversation and then, something attracted Azlan’s attention. It was an ad board showing a commercial of a newly flavoured chocolate, the Mangosteen Rush.

Still, the man was not attracted to the chocolate but the actress who became the model for this new flavoured chocolate, Liyana.

The man smiled again when he saw the ad and spoke to the phone, “I saw your ad. You look good in it.”

[The Mangosteen Rush?] the woman on the phone asked.

“Yes.”

[You should look at the product not at me though. Since you look at me instead of the product, that means I failed in this commercial] the woman spoke.

“Well, you cannot blame me because my girlfriend is the only one in my sight and she is much more attractive than the chocolate,” Azlan replied cheesily.

[...Sure, whatever] Liyana replied.

“Are you free today? It’s been a while since we met,” Azlan asked.

[I am free this evening. How about dinner together?] Liyana spoke.

“Okay, you choose the place,” Azlan added.

[Hmm~ let see, I want to eat-] when Liyana wanted to tell her opinion, Azlan’s car jolted and he heard a loud ‘BANG’ sound.

Azlan immediately hit the brakes as he was shocked by the crash. Liyana heard it too and she asked with concern, [Azlan, what happens? What is that loud sound?]

Azlan was sure he did not hit anything and he was sure the sound came from behind him. He looked at the rear-view mirror and saw the car’s rear windscreen was cracked. Other than that, he also saw that someone was on top of his car’s back.

“Someone hit my car. I will call back later,” Azlan ended the call and looked at the side mirror to make sure no car was moving towards him before he got out.

At the same time, the person who was in the back of his car's back got off the car.

“Aaaa… that hurts a lot!” Azlan heard a girl’s voice from that person. He could see too that it was a girl as she wore loose clothes and a hijab under her helmet.

“Are you okay?” Azlan asked.

When Maisarah heard the voice, she jolted. She looked behind her and saw a man in office attire walking towards her. The man looked serious and he emitted the same aura as her dad. An aura of someone with authority, strict and serious.

She could not help but give her full attention. “Um, um, I am fine,” Maisarah replied.

Azlan looked at his rear windscreen and the crack meant it was a hard blow. “Are you really okay? It looks like you hit my windscreen quite hard.”

Azlan was quite angry but when he saw how bad the windscreen looked and the girl looked like a fragile one too, he was more concerned about her condition.

“Ah, that, well,” Maisarah was a bit panicked too as this was the first time she was in an accident, “I am fine. I feel okay and my helmet is the one hitting the windscreen. I am fine!”

“Are you really okay?” he asked again.

“I am fine. Yes, I am fine!” she answered and Maisarah looked at the man. She said, “I am sorry. This is definitely my fault.” She immediately apologized. She knew perfectly she was in the wrong.

“I will pay for the damage,” she added. Since she was the one causing the accident, she needed to take responsibility.

Azlan looked at his car and the damage was quite bad too. He took out his phone and took pictures of the accident scene.

When he heard that Maisarah admitted to her fault, his anger subsided a bit. Since they were in a big city, it was normal to meet a hard-headed person who did not want to admit their fault. The girl in front of him did not hesitate to admit it and thus, his impression of her improved for a little bit.

Still, when he heard that Maisarah would pay for the damage, he looked at her with scrutiny before he asked, “Why is this happening?”

When Maisarah saw him look at her, she felt like a tiger looking at a rabbit. Azlan was the tiger and she was the rabbit.

“Well… I am on the phone and accidentally pressed my gas…” she answered guiltily. Her voice was becoming lower towards the end of her sentence.

“...” Azlan stared at her and said, “Don’t do this again. Also, is your family rich?”

“???” Maisarah was confused at his question. What did her family have to do with this accident? Still, she answered his question, “My mom is a full-time housewife and my dad is a government employee.”

“So, are your family rich?” he asked again while staring at her seriously.

“...Average,” Maisarah did not know why but she felt a bit offended with Azlan’s question. She squinted her eyes too when she answered him.

“Then, I will just let this go. You cannot afford it. Don’t do this again,” Azlan spoke.

“!!!” Maisarah’s eyes twitched.
